More on Chord Pairs

(Please refer to the prior exercise "Harmonic Heavy Lifting..." before delving into the following exercises)

I recommend the following chord pairs (triads) to be practiced as outlined in the prior blog:

1(major and minor) -4 (major and minor) (C-F)
1 (major and minor)-5 (major and minor)(C-G)
1-flat 7 (C-B flat)
1-flat 2 (C-D flat)
1 (major and minor)-diminished 7 (C- B dim)
1 (major and minor)-diminished 1 (C-C dim)
minor 1- minor flat 6 (C minor- A flat minor)

You can impose any of these pairs over a one chord vamp. For example, if you are vamping over C, try playing any of the pairs outline above at the following intervals, i.e. by switching chords every two measures, every measure, every 2 beats, every one beat, etc...

For more tools to help "play the chords", check out my string ensemble charts (each chart works interchangeably for duo, trio or quartet).
